The Hysterectomy Association are proud to announce that Founder and CEO, Linda Parkinson-Hardman, was named Venus Awards Dorset Inspirational Woman 2014 for her work supporting women facing hysterectomy. Wednesday 11th June saw the glittering finale of this year’s Venus Awards Dorset at The Lighthouse in Poole. Long and luscious was the order of the day for the nominee ladies who were all accompanied by friends, family and work colleagues. The awards, founded by Tara Howard, celebrate the achievement of women in 15 different business categories.

Founder of Hysterectomy Association Recognised as a Woman of Achievement 2011

Linda Parkinson-Hardman, founder of the Hysterectomy Association and Director of Internet Mentor Limited, has been selected as one of the UK’s Woman of Achievement and invited to the annual Women of the Year lunch on Monday 17th October at The InterContinental, London. This event is not only a networking opportunity of the most extraordinary women, but also a celebration of the changes these women have made to improve lives. Founded in 1955, this lunch provides yearly commemoration to a selection of the most inspirational women, and has in the past presented awards to the likes of Annie Lennox (2010), Sara Payne (2008), and Tina Turner (2005).

The information needs of hysterectomy patients

The Patients Charter enshrines the right to receive information about any health conditions and medical procedures that are proposed.  This should include information on any risks associated with the treatment and any alternatives available.  It also requires that healthcare professionals ensure that it is all clearly explained before the treatment takes place.
