One 2 One Telephone Support

Many of you will not be able to use our face to face counselling services simply because you don’t live close enough to Dorset where we are based, however we have received many requests asking for something more than the helpline so we have created One 2 One Telephone Support to help fill the gap.

The purpose of One 2 One is to help you make relevant decisions about your future. Much of the work will be about helping you to make sense of where you at the present moment and then make decisions about what you can do next. It is very practical work, rather than the depth work of counselling, and could be used to help you with all sorts of decisions, such as:

  • whether to have a hysterectomy or not
  • how to manage the operation physically, emotionally and sexually
  • if HRT is right for you
  • what you are going to do about managing your recovery and in to the long term
  • whether alternative forms of treatment might be appropriate
  • coping with the menopause

How Does it Work? Our One 2 One work is always done with Linda (Director of The Hysterectomy Association) and consists of one hour-long telephone conversation and then up to five email exchanges. The purpose of the initial telephone conversation is to establish a good working relationship between us, to discuss your needs and expectations and to give us the opportunity to do some initial research for you. The emails can be as complex as you would like them to be and they can be used to cover a whole range of information, support, suggestions for you to consider and other helpful elements, but specifically tailored to working on YOUR needs.

When you have booked, you will be asked to send us details of your landline telephone number and two or three dates and times between the hours of 10.00am and 7.00pm for us to have the initial telephone conversation. We do try to be as flexible as possible and should be able to accommodate most requests. We will then agree with you the date and time that is most suitable.

How much will it cost? We have a one off fee of £35.00 for each One 2 One Telephone Support session which covers the telephone conversation and any follow up emails that are needed.  Additional telephone conversations can also be arranged for an additional cost.
