The Scottish Medicines Consortium have today issued guidance denying the use of the testosterone patch Intrinsa saying

“Testosterone transdermal patch (Intrinsa) for the treatment of hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in surgically induced menopausal women. The manufacturer did not present a sufficiently robust economic analysis to gain acceptance by SMC.”

I have not long ago been prescribed Intrinsa, has anyone else? I have not used it yet, but I am suffering from a failing libido, and was advised this will help – please help

  2. Linda says:

Intrinsa was only refused by the SMC because it couldn’t demonstrate a good enough financial reason to be placed on their approved medicines to be prescribed through the NHS. I believe that the research evidence has suggested that it is highly effective. Linda
