Hi I’m Laura and I’m an ACCREDITED local contact for the Wokingham, Reading and Bracknell areas as well as any where else that comes under the Royal Berkshire Hospital. I’m a qualified nurse and also had a hysterectomy in October 2006, so I come at the topic from two different tangents.

You can contact me by telephone on 0845 3881507 or by sending an email to laurac@hysterectomy-association.org.uk

I also do ‘coffee shop meetings’ for those of you who would like to meet face to face and I also offer One 2 One sessions to help you prepare for your hysterectomy, these are similar to the Preparing For Hysterectomy workshops which I also run. To book either, simply get in touch.

Laura has two workshops this year on:

  • 5th July 2008, 9.30-12.30 - Reading
  • 11th October 2008, 9.30-12.30 -Reading

What Laura’s Clients Have Said:-

“I just wanted to let everyone know that I went to one of the Workshops in Reading yesterday morning and found it a really useful opportunity to discuss the many and varied questions and concerns that i had about having a hysterectomy. Laura made a great workshop leader because she happens to be a nurse who has had a hysterectomy herself. Best of all, she had a very positive attitude and reassured us that this and getting a bit fitter prior to, and doing exercise after, the op had all helped her with the best possible recovery. It was a great chance to ask about what to take to hospital, driving and insurance, hair removal pre-op or not, how much help might be needed during recovery, can we do stairs straight away etc. All the questions we all ask in the forums in fact but face to face with others in a similar situation, and all in one go! I’d recommend going to anyone and you don’t have to be in Berkshire to attend, in our small group we’d come from Middlesex and Bucks. Well done Laura and I hope that others will set up similar groups/workshops in other parts of the country. Do support the workshops/local groups, as they are an invaluable resource.” Lindsay
